Miranda Família is one of those estates that immediately captivates you with its charm, passion and dynamism. A true family enterprise, yet passionately led by Antonio Miranda, who works their two vineyards, Quinta do Veiga and Quinta do Paço, where they grow predominately Loureiro and Arinto. Antonio works closely with their long-term winemaker, paying close attention to every detail and demanding high standards to ensure their elegant style of Vinho Verde is always met, whilst other members of the family prepare delicious traditional Portuguese dishes for visitors.

The winery is located in Quinta da Veiga, and enjoys excellent conditions in terms of temperature and humidity. It was completely remodelled in 2011 to accommodate modern equipment, including pneumatic presses, a new high-capacity bottling line and temperature-controlled fermentation tanks built in AISI 316 stainless steel.

This significant upgrade has enabled the winery to fully implement an ‘Integrated Production’ system, as defined by the International Organisation for Biological and Integrated Control (IOBC); a framework for producing high quality wine, based on sustainable practices, care for natural resources, full traceability, and the replacement of chemical fertilisers with organic and biodynamic alternatives. The result is wine that is economically viable, environmentally sound and socially just.

“Our care in the treatment of the vineyards, the selection of the best grape varieties and the union of tradition with the most modern technological means, translates into complex and high-quality wines,” says Antonio. “But over the years we’ve seen our customers’ expectations become more complex too. With Integrated Production, quality is seen in a broad way, not only referring to the wine in the bottle, but also to the protection of human health and the environment, which is provided by this production system.”

Today, Miranda Família is a family business in full bloom, using the combined knowledge of its tiny but expert team to bring high-end Vinho Verde to curious wine-lovers across Portugal and beyond.
