Paul Byron and Ralph Dunning brought more than sixty years of combined experience in the Australian wine trade when they founded Byron & Harold in 2012, having spent their careers at senior levels of admired wineries and distribution houses.
Rather than build an estate, the pair work as careful selectors, seeking out parcels of fruit from growers in cool-climate country where southerly latitudes and strong ocean influence give a long, even ripening season and wines of acidity and definition. The model is unglamorous and the wines are the better for it, focused on provenance and balance, and sourced by two people who have spent long enough in the trade to know exactly what they are looking for.
