Finca Las Violetas was launched by winemaker Gastón Vitale in 2020, originally with the intention of creating only blended wines, respecting the natural notes of each variety and creating unique combinations. Its first bottlings were so well received though that in 2023 Gastón released a new line of varietal wines, ‘Flor Violeta’, showcasing grapes including Tannat, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Albariño and Sauvignon Blanc.

Finca Las Violetas is Gastón’s own project, but by day he is part of the winemaking team at Gimenez Mendez in Canelones, where he has worked alongside Mauro Giménez Méndez for well over a decade.

“Our main badge is the love and respect for nature,” says Gastón, who runs Finca Las Violetas with his wife Karen and his daughter Priscilla. “We love roots, family and traditions, we love work and we understand it as an engine to achieve dreams. We believe in transcendence, in getting involved with the heart, and that doing things well is always the best option.”

Finca Las Violetas currently works with friendly wineries in Maldonado, Colonia and Canelones to produce its wines. However, Gastón is building his own winery at Las Violetas, the Canelones district that gives the project its name, which he hopes to establish as a wine tourism destination, with a focus on nature and quality gastronomy.
