Charity of the month: Health in Mind

This month, Beer52 and Ferment are proud to sponsor Health in Mind, a mental health charity promoting positive mental health and wellbeing in Scotland since 1982. Help in Mind’s work is varied and ranges from delivering trauma support and training, counselling and talking therapies, to early intervention community based support. 

Our Craft Beer Advisor Sam Myers worked as one of the charity’s fundraisers for two years, and so jumped at the chance to nominate one of her favourite charities. She had the pleasure of working with a dedicated team of staff and volunteers who stove to promote positive mental health. Sam worked with individuals and community groups in a variety of fun ways to raise funds for vital mental health services, helping to organise the Edinburgh Dog Jog (a 5k with your pooch), an abseil off the Forth Rail Bridge and even a skydive in aid of the charity. 

Back in 1982, the drive to establish the organisation was led by a small group of dedicated people who saw a need for there to be greater diversity in community mental health services, that were tailored to the needs of the people they worked with. The group’s vision was to work together to support service users, and create sustained and far reaching debate around the importance of individual mental health.

Today the team at Health in Mind still works within communities to promote mental health understanding and awareness. Its aspiration is to create a world where people live in supportive and resilient communities, feel empowered to access the services they need, and through that lead fulfilling lives.
