The Wiper and True story actually began with an apple tree. Founders Michael Wiper and Al True originally intended to make cider, but while waiting for their orchard to mature, they tried their hand at homebrewing. When a family friend described an early Australian-hopped IPA as "beautiful beer," the duo found their calling. In the early days, Wiper and True never brewed the same beer twice, focusing entirely on constant innovation and honing their craft at various host breweries. This nomadic period allowed them to sharpen their focus on what "Beautiful Beer" should look and taste like. After outgrowing a tiny, eccentric warehouse in St Werburghs, they recently moved into a state-of-the-art facility in Old Market. Using a custom-engineered German brew kit, their master brewers now achieve incredible technical precision, allowing them to refine fan favourites like Kaleidoscope and Tomorrow to a world-class standard.
For the team of over fifty individuals at Wiper and True, "Beautiful Beer" is more than just a slogan; it is a mantra that shapes every decision they make. This commitment to quality is backed by serious investment in technology, from gleaming silver fermentation vessels that allow flavours to develop slowly to a refrigerated warehouse that ensures every pint reaches the drinker in peak condition.
