Wiper and True

The Wiper and True story actually began with an apple tree. Founders Michael Wiper and Al True originally intended to make cider, but while waiting for their orchard to mature, they tried their hand at homebrewing. When a family friend described an early Australian-hopped IPA as "beautiful beer," the duo found their calling. Today, based in Bristol, they have grown from nomadic brewers into a leading independent force, known for refined, technical excellence and a mission to create beer that appeals to everyone, from seasoned fans to the most hardened sceptics. About Wiper and True

About Wiper and True

In the early days, Wiper and True never brewed the same beer twice, focusing entirely on constant innovation and honing their craft at various host breweries. This nomadic period allowed them to sharpen their focus on what "Beautiful Beer" should look and taste like. After outgrowing a tiny, eccentric warehouse in St Werburghs, they recently moved into a state-of-the-art facility in Old Market. Using a custom-engineered German brew kit, their master brewers now achieve incredible technical precision, allowing them to refine fan favourites like Kaleidoscope and Tomorrow to a world-class standard.

For the team of over fifty individuals at Wiper and True, "Beautiful Beer" is more than just a slogan; it is a mantra that shapes every decision they make. This commitment to quality is backed by serious investment in technology, from gleaming silver fermentation vessels that allow flavours to develop slowly to a refrigerated warehouse that ensures every pint reaches the drinker in peak condition. Their new home serves as a playground where creative experimentation meets high-level engineering, ensuring that every sip is as nuanced and balanced as the first homebrew that started it all.

As a family-run business, Wiper and True considers every touchpoint through a lens of sustainability and respect. Their new headquarters features a closed-loop system designed to capture carbon dioxide released during fermentation, significantly reducing their impact on the planet. This focus on the future extends to how they treat their suppliers, team, and community. By combining this ethical approach with a relentless drive for quality, they continue to change perceptions of what beer can be, inviting everyone to pause and appreciate a truly beautiful pint.

More Wiper and True

While the brewery has moved into a new era of massive production capacity, they haven't lost the creative spark that defined their early years. The labels and branding reflect the elegance of the liquid inside, often using clean, striking designs that mirror the clarity and balance of their recipes. Whether they are using experimental ingredients sourced from a global network of growers or perfecting a classic pale ale, the goal remains the same: to deliver a perfectly chilled experience that makes you stop and say, "cor, that's Beautiful Beer."
