Shackleton Brewing Company
Shackleton Brewing Company stems from Steve Peel’s (Head Brewer) adventures to Antarctica whilst researching climate change and oceanography. During the three months he spent exploring the Antarctic continent and open ocean of the South Atlantic he read about the great Sir Ernest Shackleton who, during the early 1900s, began a voyage to cross the Antarctic continent. The compelling story of exploration, innovation, leadership, adventure, survival resonated as qualities that Steve deemed valuable for the brewery. Shackleton Brewing Company has been on a wild ride since 2017, but through the ups and downs, Steve and the team have learned to enjoy the journey and in doing so, left an indelible mark on South Africa’s beer scene.
