Brouwerij Corsendonk
The Priory of Corsendonk, in Oud-Turnhout, Flanders, had a brewery and malt-house on-site in 1398, though brewing operations stopped and started over the centuries in line with the political and religious climate. The priory’s brewing heritage was most recently revived in 1906, when a nearby brewery began producing beer on behalf of the priory, and in collaboration with its residents. From there on out, the quality of the beer spoke for itself, with sales skyrocketing from 840,000 bottles a year, to nearly 9 million bottles between 1982 and 1990.
